“Aussiedillo” | 2010 Red Bull Art Of Can National Finalist

Described as “…this is what happens when Frank Gehry loses a bet with an Armadillo”, Aussiedillo made it to the national finalist and national exhibition of the Red Bull Art Of Can (U.S.A). It took over 202 cans and Aussiedillo’s ability to weave through the judges legs (via a built-in remote-controlled device within the sculpture) to win a spot in this illustrious competition. The project culminated in a premium art exhibition, where the selected artworks and the top three winners traveled around the country for a year.

The judging criteria was the following:

•creative concept (the idea behind the piece)
•conceptual execution (how well did the piece translate the concept idea)
•construction (how well is the piece constructed/special technique or unusual process)

Today I have no idea of the whereabouts of Aussiedillo, however next time I will incorporate a tracking device so I can locate the Red Bull cans in its future morphological form.
